An Introduction to Plymouth Marjon University

Plymouth Marjon University sits on a green and spacious campus, with state-of-the-art facilities in a spectacular part of the world. But the thing that most makes them stand out is their students. They are the inspiration and motivation for what they we do.

Here, students build strong working relationships with a network of supporters, from their Personal Development Tutors to their lecturers to the Student Union, and therefore achieve more than they ever thought possible. They work side-by-side with us to improve and develop the University to make their experience as rich and rewarding as possible.

All the programmes involve work placements of some sort, and all students are trained in critical graduate-level skills such as presenting with impact, applying for jobs, managing interviews, and influencing others. They work very closely with key employers on all programmes, linking all students to a network of contacts to help them in their future careers.

What is Student Life like at Plymouth Marjon University?

The Students’ Union exists for many reasons. It is primarily an organisation that ensures all students are represented equally and fairly, offering advice to anyone who feels they are struggling with their course for a personal, academic or other reason. The Students’ Union also organises various social events throughout the year.

Students are encouraged to look at the wide range of clubs and societies offered by Marjon’s Students’ Union. These allow students to meet new people, make friends and unwind. Many different societies are available to choose from, covering topical interests, backgrounds or hobbies. Students are also welcome to start their own society with the SU’s support.

Accommodation is available on campus, there are seven halls of residence, and the accommodation team aim to place students in halls depending on the questionnaires they complete, ensuring they are with like-minded students. These include single-sex flats. There are also two purpose-built en-suite wet rooms.

The university’s campus is situated a little outside the centre of Plymouth, close to Dartmoor National Park. The regular bus service means it offers all the benefits of a campus university, close to some stunning countryside, but with all the amenities of a city just an easy and short journey away.

The waterfront is a hub of activity, including some fantastic restaurants to suit all budgets. And while the city and the region come to life during the warmer months when surfing and sailing are at their peak, there’s plenty to enjoy there during the cooler months too, including art galleries, theatre, cinema, and Drake Circus Shopping Centre.
